First organized in 1992, the Folsom, El Dorado, and Sacramento Historical Railroad Association has held the annual Folsom Handcar Derby on the former Southern Pacific Placerville Branch. Racing to see who’s handcar crosses the finish line the fastest, this event is fun and exciting for the whole family, gives local businesses, groups, and charities a chance to network and have a friendly competition within the community.
