Folsom History Museum
Folsom History Museum
History comes to life at the Folsom History Museum with artifacts, a rotating schedule of exhibits and a hands-on interpretive history area (gold panning, anyone?). Folsom’s historic timeline actually began long before gold fever with its original inhabitants, the Maidu Indians. The museum has Indian artifacts and relates the history of these people who lived on the banks of the American River.

Living history in Folsom
The Interpretive Area offers demonstrations of blacksmithing and gold panning. Living history volunteers often portray the daily life of pioneers from 1850 to 1900. The area has a working blacksmith forge, an historical building, the Ashland Station, a carriage house, and a pioneer cabin. Along with the buildings and various artifacts, the area is surrounded by trees, rose bushes, ivy, and grape vines. It is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon or a picnic.
