Museums & Historic Sites

Folsom’s history is intertwined with the California Gold Rush and the first railroad in the state. The city’s museums are truly a step back in time for history buffs, families or anyone wishing to enjoy a glimpse into a bygone era. At the Folsom History Museum, visitors will find a narrative of the city’s history including seasonal exhibits of historic quilts, holiday decorations or tributes to the Pony Express. Pioneer Village (hours vary) delivers a hands on experience at gold panning or blacksmithing. At the Museum of Wonder & Delight, visitors are treated to a unique collection of vintage toys and international folk art from renowned collector Dolph Gotelli. Additional museums include the Folsom Prison Museum, Folsom Powerhouse State Park & Museum, and the Railroad History Museum.
