Folsom’s connection to Johnny Cash stretches back to 1968 when the legendary singer/songwriter performed his trademark song (originally recorded in 1956), “Folsom Prison Blues” at one of the area’s most recognizable locales: Folsom State Prison. The Folsom Prison Museum, with exhibits and artifacts chronicling the nearly 140-year old prison, is located on the Folsom Prison property. The Folsom Cash Art Trail is a 2.5-mile Class 1 bike trail, perfect for cycling and walking, that crosses over the prison property and connects to Folsom Lake Trail via a recently constructed bike/pedestrian overcrossing inspired by the mid-19th century architecture of Folsom Prison.
